Black Mental Health Matters Re-envisioning Mental Wellness

Workshop Description:This will be a  90 minute workshop.  This interactive workshop explores social determinants of mental health and the intersectionality of structural systemic racism as barriers to treatment.  Issues related to resilience in managing simultaneous epidemics, grief and loss as well as cultural stigma will be addressed.  Traditional and alternative options for care will be provided.  Workshop Learning Objectives:

1. Workshop participants will be able to identify 3 social determinants of mental health
2. To explore the historical systemic barriers people of African descent face in seeking mental health care.
3. To identify strategies that promote resilience and mental wellness
