National Night Out events have been held around the country annually since 1984. It was established in the western suburbs of Philadelphia by Matt Peskin, a Philadelphia native. National Night Out is an opportunity to bring neighborhoods together with a shared goal: building safer, stronger communities. Each year, residents, Philadelphia Police officers, and community partners gather for block parties, cookouts, safety demonstrations, and youth-friendly activities—all centered on crime prevention and community outreach. The Philadelphia Police Department is proud to lead the way, offering a chance for neighbors to meet their local officers, ask questions, and strengthen the trust that helps our city thrive. This year, National Night Out will be held all over Philly neighborhoods on Tuesday, August 5th! Want to know what’s happening near you? Click HERE for your neighborhood’s National Night Out location!
